Soups
A great, easy chili recipe. Easy to make and even better to build upon with your own delicious additions:
1 lb ground beef
4 cups diced tomato (or about 2-3 cans)
3 cups tomato sauce
1 green pepper (chopped)
1 large onion, chopped
2 tablespoons Milford Spice Company Traditional Chili Powder
Brown meat, pepper, and onion in a pan over medium heat until meat is browned. Drain fat. Combine all ingredients in a stock pot and cook over low heat, approximately 45 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Such an easy and versatile base - great additions include:
Additional chile peppers to taste - brown with the meat
A touch of chocolate, a splash of coffee to add depth (MSC's Mark's Espresso Rub is a nice addition too!)
Extra tomatoes, or one of my favorites - roasted tomatoes. Sweet and delicious!
Serve with a dollop of sour cream, finely chopped onions and fine cheddar cheese.
Don't forget the corn bread on the side too!
