Cardamom Palmiers

These cookies are perfect for holiday get togethers.  They are very simple to make.  I have a broken wrist that I had surgery on two days ago, and I made these with one arm.  There is something about cardamom for me that really brings to mind special occasions.  These cookies are crunchy, chewy, sweet and salty!

A fun way to treat your friends over the holidays is to throw an old fashioned tea party.  These cookies would be perfect as part of the assorted finger foods to be served,

Curried Lamb Chops

Tonight I am making my favorite dish,  Lamb Chops!  For some reason my husband has decided he no longer likes lamb, so I make it when he is out of town.  My friend Maggie is coming over to enjoy my feast!  In my ever humble opinion, curry is the perfect spice to bring out the all the delicate flavor of the lamb.  The Maharajah Curry is honestly one of the best curry mixes I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying!  The Faux Risotto is lovely along side the Delicata squash.  I used Zahtar to season the squash, I am new to this spice but am hooked!  It is a middle eastern spice mix used to flavor naan and vegetables.  Truly complements the curry.

A warming dish for a cold Colorado night!

We enjoyed a bottle of Petit Syrah with this meal.  The rich wine brings out the sweetness of the lamb and curry.

How Spices Shaped the World

Salt, pepper, cinnamon, cumin, saffron. You can find them in our store, you can find them in the food you eat when you eat out, you can put them in the dishes you make on your own. You’ll find them in the recipes we share through our blog. Having spices in our kitchens, stores and eventually food comes naturally to us. But let’s put the ladle aside for a moment and talk a bit more about them. Sure, they are always there when you need them, but did you ever stop to think it wasn’t always the case?

Maharajah Curried Butternut Squash Soup

This soup is a wonderful fall vegetable delight!  It is so satisfying when the temperatures are cold to have a flavorful soup.  The Maharajah Curry is warming and comforting.  It is a fantastic curry mix that is so versatile.  My children are ecstatic when they come home from school or sports and the house is scented with curry!  It is sure to be a favorite of your family too!

This would also be a terrific soup to serve as a first course for your Thanksgiving Feast!

A soft and fruity Merlot pairs beautifully with the complexity of this dish.

Barb's Touchdown Chili

When I was in high school I watched my mom make chili one time and wrote down the recipe. I have changed it up through the years, adding this and that, but it’s still her basic recipe (which I now have memorized).
